Last week The Jam Tree Clapham invited me to try their bottomless bank holiday brunch offer - £15 for unlimited Bellini’s or Bloody Mary’s.
It was perfecting timing too, as I was bidding my long term brunch-companion and lover of Avocado's Ellie Tanner farewell as she is off to the South West Coast of France to teach yoga at a surf camp... Oh what a life eh?
The menu, which uses simple and fresh ingredients to create globally inspired plates, offers a range of fresh and flavoursome dishes.
Available throughout the week, the brunch offering contains classic options that have been given an interesting twist - such as avocado on toast with urfa chili.
We chose the smoked haddock, spinach & poached egg and Shakshuka dishes - and boy, where they tasty!
The smoked haddock dish was creamy, light and fresh (I'd recommend ordering a side of sourdough to mop up the saucy, eggy goodness). If you're particularly hungry an extra poached egg is 50p (yes, only 50p!).
The Shakshuka was a bright, spicy start to the day. Seasoned to perfection, it's served with a chunk of bread to sop up the juices.
There's also a large selection of Bloody Marys on offer, including the 'Bloody Bull' that features beef stock made in The Jam Tree's kitchen over 3 days and the Eastern inspired 'Wasabi Mary' served with a dash of soy sauce.
If this venue was closer to home I'm sure it would become my local haunt. With a menu compromising of 9 different types of Bloody Mary and utterly wonderful breakfast items, I can now understand why it is so popular in Clapham.
