Finding Cosmopolitan Bliss in Essex

April 18, 2011

Being back home in London this Easter has been a busy time for me, lunches with friends, dinners with family, countless shopping trips and long chill out sessions in Hyde Park.

 Luxe Launch Night

I decided at the end of last semester that I would take some time off to relax, and I did for a few days, until I realised that living in London and being close to Essex I have countless launches, events and exhibitions I could attend; my curiosity got the better of me.

There's a terrible stigma attached to Essex clubs and events, but for those of you who haven't dared to take the chance, there is a whole world of cosmopolitan bliss that awaits, apparently.

I headed into Essex last Thursday with the iN magazine team to see what would await...

We started the night with a few drinks in the office before we headed down to the King William IV in Chigwell; my local pub and a favourite haunt for celebrities.

The King William IV was re launching after a refurnish; it was packed with locals, countless press, paparazzi and B-list celebs.

After many glasses of pink champagne and scoffing a fair few canapés including salt and pepper squid, smoked salmon pate and chicken skewers I was really enjoying the ambience.

But soon enough we were whisked away to our next destination, Woolston Manor Golf Club.

The Manor was hosting a charity fashion show for the James Baldwin Trust, a charity which supports cancer patients.

The very glamorous event included outfits from the boutique Evergreen and other Loughton clothing shops, and were modled by The Only Way is Essex cast member Chloe Sims, who was supported by her daughter and fellow TOWIE cast member Joey Essex.

Straight after the show we were on the road again, from Chigwell to Loughton, for the long awaited launch Essex's newest venue Luxe

The clubs destructive décor and unique bar lighting combined with a fine array Dj's has turned the venue into one of the county's most exclusive nights out; trashy Essex this aint!

The club's launch night was enjoyed by the whole iN team; we brushed shoulders with model Holly Croft, Queer Eye For The Straight Guy presenter Julian Bennett and the Towie cast to name a few.

After countless glasses of yet more Champagne I ended the night with a little dance and catching myself a few interviews with the partying celebs; not too shabby for a Thursday if I do say so myself!
