Our first picnic of the season | Searcys tasting trio

April 30, 2015

Spring is the perfect time to enjoy a picnic. However, with the unpredictable British weather, planning to eat alfresco can be rather risky.

Last week I was invited to try Searcys new picnic tasting trio at their One New Change bar. Complete with mini picnic hampers, a printed grass mat and chilled Taittinger, the display looked pretty impressive on our small black table.

The spring picnic-themed trio includes smoked salmon, a fresh strawberry, and a raspberry macaroon paired with three glasses of complimenting Taittinger.

The best part of the evening was our waitress - she explained the reasons behind the pairings, how each champagne had been produced and the tasting notes we should expect. She answered my weird and wonderful questions with an unpretentious wealth of knowledge, and bid us farewell at the end of our evening in such a manner that we now can't wait to go back.

The tasting trio including 50ml of Brut Reserve NV, Prestige Rosé and Nocturne Sec paired with canapés cost £23 per person (£19 without food).

Available until 28 April at Searcys Champagne Bars at St Pancras Grand, One New Change, Westfield London and Westfield Stratford.
