Pumpkin Spice Latte autumn cups

Has the launch of the PSL become the official moment we all realise summer is over? The Frapps are gone and we can turn our attention to the most autumnal drink there has ever been.

Although this year our favourite Instagram worthy beverage is about to reinvent itself: Starbucks is adding real pumpkin to its lattes. That’s right — real, actual pumpkin purée! And the controversial caramel coloring will be removed (hurrrah!).

“We have been trying to keep a lid on some big news for the beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte, but with recipes and ingredients starting to ship to our stores, the buzz is building. What’s the big deal? After hearing from customers and partners about ingredients, we took another look at this beverage …” reads Starbucks’ Monday announcement.

Debuting in stores this week, the revamped latte will include the following ingredients: espresso, milk, pumpkin spice flavored sauce (which now includes pumpkin purée), optional whipped cream, vanilla syrup and pumpkin spice topping.

With over 200 million pumpkin spice lattes sold since the drink’s introduction in 2003, it's safe to say the drink is set to be a favourite flavour of fall for a long time to come.
