Food: Fashion or Flavour?

Gorgeous cocktail dress with it's flowing 'silk' layers...
or is that Aubergine?!
Young graduated Korean artist Sung Yeonju made these breath taking  dresses out of real fruits and vegetables as part of her Wearable Foods series.

It is her first long term project, that she started two years ago, and still continues to this day.

This series of her work forces viewers to defy the actual meaning, the functionalities, and the aspects of what clothing signifies in our lives.

The essence of clothing and food has been reinterpreted.

Each element does not fulfill its own role and yet, each suggests an unconventional and even contradicting role
 – un-wearable clothing that is made out of materials that do not last.

Sizzling in a fried egg dress.
Lace? -No that's Lotus Root.
Tomato frilled dress.
Banana split?

  1. I would wear a banana jacket every day if I could afford it.

  2. Or made into a wearable item you could keep forever? -if that was true I would defiantly purchase the Aubergine dress, I love the shape!
